I know that in 1.7+ you can combine two resource packs and order them for priority. I'd like to know if there is a way to do this in 1.6.4. I'm currently using the John Smith Remix tech remix one and would like to use the Conquest Resource pack 32x32 over top of it. John Smith is more complete and will take care of all the mod textures but I like the way Conquest looks with vanilla textures.

Take the files of the one you want as primary and copy it into the secondary one? Click yes to overwrite.

Ah yes, that is definitely a possibility. I suppose I would just take all of the files from the conquest recource pack and overwrite the ones in the john smith one. Can't hurt I guess, worst i'd have to do is reinstall john smith if i break it.

Exactly. Only downside is you would have to do it every time you want to update any of the packs. Something like winrar is able to modify the .zips quite easily without the need to unzip them first(actually windows might be able to do that now, just always used winrar :p).

Ok.. yeah honestly it seems pretty easy.... Almost too easy o_O I wouldn't mind redoing it if conquest receives updates.

Just a note, resource packs work perfectly fine if you unzip them. That's how I manage my custom one.

Does that save some CPU time if we unzip the resource pack zip file so the CPU doesn't have to unzip it on the fly? Does it actually make any "real-world" time difference, or are we talking imperceptible milliseconds?

No idea. I just got fed up with trying to manipulate zip files.

I hear that. Windows 7's built-in zip application is worse than awful. Solution? Go find "7-zip" which is freeware. I can open two zip files, select all the files in one window, copy, then go to the other zip file and paste them in. No need to unzip them first like you have to do if you use the default Windows unzip util.
