Well I just finished my Storage room for my new base but its really dark in the room since I made the entire room out of thaumcraft blocks and the black blocks are quite dark, but the lighter colors just didnt look good..

So Can you put colored text on signs still? I'm pretty sure you could in vanilla somehow.
I Found a colored sign and book text mod but it didn't seem to work..

Or anyone have any ideas on how I could make the signs more visible and light them up a bit? I have torches all through the place but its still dark.

What I like to do is use item frames with an item to represent what's in the chest. An iron ingot for your ingot chest, and so on. It helps me to find what I'm looking for much quicker.

Not a bad Idea. I still wouldnt mind putting colored text on the signs tho. And wish there was a way to make it brighter in the room.

Heres what it looks like with a few of the chest with item frames on them to test it out. Can you easily tell what each chest is for?

On an otherwise vanilla Bukkit server prior to MC 1.3, I found that typing "&5 Text" would show the word "Text" in sort of a darkish magenta color, if I remember correctly. &0 is black, &15 is white, numbers between showed other colors. I've no idea as to whether this was a vanilla or a Bukkit thing, though. Even if it does work, I don't see how you could use different colors to make the text easier to read- the signs are already pretty light in color, and changing the text color would only mean a lighter color and less contrast.

In any case, however, item frames would probably be preferable to signs if you've got a bunch of chests. In fact, with the number of chests you have there, you might be better off switching to barrels for most things. Or is that a barrel array I see on the left? I can't tell, I don't use the texturepack.

EDIT (ninja'd): You can always try Factorization's wrath lamps to light the room (floodlights, basically).
Also, I would put the item frames above the chests (where the signs are), so they don't block your reaching the chests.
Even though I don't recognize everything in the texturepack, I think the item frames provide a reasonably clear indication of the contents of the chests. Easier to see from a distance, although the signs provide a more precise explanation of what's in the chest (Not like it's hard to just open the chests, though).

I see ingots and ores in the bottom left, an engine on the bottom right (probably Buildcraft stuff), food and mob drops at the top right, gems next to the mob drops...

Haaaaaaa! I meant, frames in place of signs, not frames on the actual chest. That's actually really hilarious, but I'm also pretty tired. Even with the texture pack I've never seen, I can tell which is which. So keep at it, I guess!

Try a Wrath lamp in there for more light. The choice of blocks means it'll be pretty dark by default.

I am pretty sure that was a plugin not craftbukkit.

Yah Thats a wall of barrels to the left, I like to stay really organized so the barrel wall is for items that I tend to get alot of and the chests are for the more rare items and such.

Haha Yah I knew you meant in PLace of the signs, I tried with just the frames and no signs and I actually like the frames and signs together lol.. Its like insurance to make sure I can easily tell whats what.

I have a few wrath lamps in my old base so ill try them in here although I dont think they will amek it any brighter it seems to be an issue with the fact that the blocks are so dark.

Sandstone flooring really brightens things up. More similar to what you have already would be stone brick. Spice it up with some chiseled stone brick in a pattern of sorts. If you still want the security of warded blocks, just put them underneath the floor.

Yah I was thinking of doing something like that I still might go for it. Just a pain to get the warded stones I've used up alot of brains so far lol..

Also I might have to ditch the frames on the chests as It makes it alittle hard to open the chest since you can click on the item frame and it rotates what is in the frame.. I really liked the frames and signs haha.. I could reverse the signs and frames i guess but prob wouldnt look good. I'm going to have to stick to signs. It would be nice if I could color the text tho that "might" help

i keep my stuff organized by throwing them all with applied energetics (i believe) have a crafting terminal with quite a few Storage drives, (tho it tends to eat alot of energy, i have 1 with 2 full drives + 1 disk, all are either 64k bytes or 16k bytes, plus a 5 by 5 auto crafter thingy, (molecular assembler chamber) and all that is taking 86 eu/t, but thats no match to all my solar panels mahahah :D )
