Somewhere over the rainbow.
Tried the sponge from Open Blocks, really neat trick but the range can't be adjusted and I had some bad results, if you do any block update around it, the work is screwed up badly, thanks for me the game is saved every 2hrs on my server so I only had to do a reset from 2hrs, just got a nice setup with a igneous extruder that get his cobble onto a pulverizer then store everything into some DSU from MFR and I'll wait till I have enough sand to cover the whole place, will probably have to work with a filler somehow, since the top of the dome is way over the water, I may have some success with this method.

It would be really fun if a program from a turtle could do the work and stay in the boundary of the dome, the dome was build by the turtle with a nice program, but it would be really a big trouble to do since this is a dome, not a cube or other easy shape that you could control where the turtle goes

Also tried the MFFS trick, that thing just want 50000mj/second (not by tick here, clearly stated by second) just to start up, no way I can't generate enough power for theses things,

tried in my test world with 10 creative energy cells from TE and the thing didn't even had enough...

That's an enormous dome. Turtle... Ah. I have a suggestion. On the computercraft forums, Darkbobo wrote a remote control program for a turtle. That could be useful for dealing with an trouble spots you run into, such as small areas where the filler can't get without being more effort than it's worth.

Maybe try this.

Quick instructions:
  1. Backup world. This comes with no guarantees of world safety.
  2. Get into creative mod.
  3. Find "Drain".
  4. Ignore lack of texture and proper documentation.
  5. Ensure area with water (the 'pool') is sealed (horizontally and vertically. Item does not check diagonally). You don't want to wait to drain the entire ocean.
  6. Place at bottom of pool.
  7. Right click with empty hand.
  8. Wait. (it can take several minutes. Watch the log for "STOP DRAIN".)
  9. Enjoy empty pool.

I would really prefer solutions that wouldn't require creative mode to work here, the dome as at his max 61 blocks, the water I have to remove is 16 deep everywhere (cleared the bottom of the ocean with a filler before building the dome) for now I have to figure out what would be the max size cube I can fit in that dome for a filler to do some work, I will probably fill the remaining area manually since its the only way to ensure a safe result, the filling part will be the most tedious I think because with an Excavator from Tinkers Construct, it will be easy to care for (it digs in a 3x3x1 area each time...

I made it in about 5 hours. I thought of actually making it a block that you build that takes MJ or RF to drain, but I just got the actual block working properly.

It currently is basically a block that works like the old redpower pump before they added water on water making inifinite pools. (or any other pump for that matter). Except I also remove the bottom layer as well.

Would be glad to try this if SMP compatible since I'm playing on my own private server, I had some toughs about changing Buildcraft pumps behavior to consume water on my server but I don't know how much time it would take to drain the whole dome with just a single Builcraft pump)

Build a dome, forget about the water, plop a BC pump on the top with a power supply and liquid void pipe.

Usually works for me.

Take the time you need, I'm not in any hurry for now, and I have 3 players to convince to install this mod first...[DOUBLEPOST=1390139738][/DOUBLEPOST]

For this to work, I have to make sure the Builcraft pump use the water in the buildcraft config files... Might be my best solution if I can't convince the 3 players on my server that I need a mod for the job

Will have to test that solution this afternoon, one thing I'm worried about, would it respect the boundary of the dome, this is I think the difficult part to do, don't want to drain the ocean around and create problems with the water around the dome...

Tried to enable the buildcraft pump use water, its useless since Minecraft recreate the water source itself, wonder even why this option is in Buildcraft, I see the pump trying to work, but the source it suck is recreated a second after...

So long as it is enclosed. Water diagonally touching doesn't count as connected.

Loading it at the moment, what is the name of the block I need to look for, will test in my creative test world first then if working, will install it on my server...

Edit, found it, looks like its working, but I got a crash report trying it in my test world on a lake.

Here's the crash log if it can help you out :
