Somewhere over the rainbow.
I'm using FTB DW20 1.6.4 v1.0.12

I setup a nice turtle to do a giant dome in the ocean (61 blocks wide inside)

Now, is there any mods that could help me get rid of the water inside, I've seen some discussions about the filler, but since the area isn't a square, I really doubt its possible to use it, the only areas a filler can work it is a square or a cube, if I do only a square in the center, the water will flow around and make it a real pain to clear things up...

Worldedit will do that for you either the server version or the single player version will do the trick. that is the easyiest way of removing water in a controlled way.

Benn there, done that with disastrous results on a vanilla server map in 1.2.5, don't like the way Worldedit work with water, you can't specify the exact area it will operate to empty the water only inside of the dome. The water all around the dome was messed up so badly I had to forget my project...

There's sponges that can clear water in a 5x5x5 (I think). Also, I believe MFFS has a sponge module that will do the same thing, but in an area defined by the field.

I've seen the MFFS module called sponge, but I never used MFFS, at least not this version of the MFFS, any tutorials for it would be really appreciated.

My idea was to use sponges from OpenBlocks, but I think it would take forever, its the option I have or try to manually fill the whole area with sand and dig it all out with an excavator from Tinkers Counstruct, not sure if it would be quicker than a MFFS or not...

I'm afraid my sugestion is terrible old fashion as it require a little manual labour, but a shovel of the earthmover and lots of sand/gravel and you can fill that in in no time. Use the shovel to place the sand, then when you placed a lot use the shovel to remove it again, rinse and repeat. You can take advantage of the falling nature of the sand and just place it at the top and let it sink down to easy fill it up.

Personally done loads of terraforming this way. Honestly its often faster just doing it than even considering how to have some machine setup do it for you.

Might have to do a part with manual labor, but Maybe not all the fill up, I can use a filler for the max size of a square in the middle of the dome and do the rest manually, might not be that bad...

But any suggestion to save time would be appreciated...

It's pretty simple(the MFFS way I mean). Get a way to generate that Force stuff it uses(a.. Coercion Driver? It's the only one that takes power really), select a sphere setting(dome might work as well, but I haven't used MFFS in a long time, so use the sphere to be safe), scale it up to the right size using scale increasing thingies(sorry, lots of old names not coming to me), and when you get it to the right size(moving it as needed), add a sponge module and watch that water vanish!

Though I'd try using a pump and a waterproof void pipe if that's an option.

Will have to find a good tutorial for the MFFS, I used the one from Thunderdark (not sure of correct name) only once to create a safe force field to fight the wither, but never ever used anything else since I don't need a Force Field, I'm on a family private server so no worry about other players or griefers...

I did exactly what you want to do; cleared water out of a MFFS dome using the sponge module.

Starts with power gen for the MFFS field and works up from there. (at 14:05 the sponge mod starts)

How about you seal up the area of ocean you want with glass or something and just pump everything out with a BC pump? You'd also need to seal a tube around the pump pipe and attach a void fluid pipe to get rid of the excess water.

The pump doesn't deplete water? Huh. Well beats me I guess. Isn't there some sort of void bucket?

MFFS is the best way. It runs on MJ's pumped into a Coercion Deriver, fed through a Capacitor into a Projector. And RF it seems. I used it to remove the water out of an underwater mansion, with an irregularly shaped roof.

I did it recently with a Gregtech pump. A buildcraft pump can do it if you disable the infinite water setting.
In buildcraft\main.conf:
# set to true if the Pump should consume water
B:consumeWater=false

Personally, I always just say screw it and turn on creative, grab a bucket and go to town. If it's really big though, some of the other methods might be better.

Actually, it got me thinking...will the sponge blocks from Openblocks work with Tinkers' Construct's Drawbridges?
