I've noticed players communicating with the FTB chat is this an easy process to do this or quite a long one

With "ForgeIRC" installed, you can just press F3 once you open up the chat with T to talk to the Forge IRC channel. In the configs you can change how this works.

yep, it's basically an IRC channel that your ingame chat can connect to. mIRC and any other IRC client (such as Opera web browsers inbuilt IRC client) could also. I have asked Jerome to add it to Adeptcraft, should be on soon
