Changing world height to 512?

My hosting control panel has an option to set 512 as height. For some reason it isn't actually updating that to the server properties...so I went ahead and just updated it myself.

My server.properties has max-build-height=512, is there something else I need to do to actually be able to build this high? I restarted the server with the new file but still can't build higher than 256. Do I need to create a new world for it to take effect, or is there something else somewhere that needs to be changed?

Minecraft itself only supports up to 256, you'll have to get or make a mod for that.

Yep, the option is for servers who want to limit the build height below 256. Back in 1.1, before the anvil map format update, there were mods to extend the height, no idea if they still exist. But it's worth looking.

thanks guys...maybe I should let my host know that since they have it as a drop down option for the server settings, lol .
