We are using 1.4.2 FTB Beta Pack A, unmodified. This means gregtech is an option.

Limitations:
1) Railcraft Energy Loaders and Unloaders can not be built. For whatever reason (already checked railcraft config files) there is no way to add energy loaders and unloaders into our game, including with gamemode 1.
2) Enderchests are bugged, but functional. What this means is that every time the server gets reset, usually every 8-12 hours, all enderchest inventories are reset. As long as the server is on, we're safe, but every 8-12 hours the enderchests have to be totally empty.
3) we are not at a high enough level tech for gregtech's interdimensional energy storage to be viable. We're getting there, but the exponential resource cost to get to that tier of tech is still a bit beyond us.

So, how would you design a system to transport energy from one mystcraft world to another? Absolute cheapest design wins at least 10 internet cookies.

The simplest way is to simply to make the EU charge lapatron crystals and then just heading back to the world were the lapatron crystals are whenever you need power.

Chestcarts plus EnergyCrystals/LapatronCrystals/LapatronicEnergyOrbs plus some kind of charging/discharging mechanism should work good enough.

First, do you want the system to be completely automated? This is fairly important as some solutions require some form of player input. Second, is this challenge just for EU, or does a conversion of MJ to EU and EU to MJ also count for this system?

If you don't mind having player input and don't mind power conversions, I can come up with several builds off the top of my head. For a fully automated build though you're definately gonna be looking at lava.

One possible build is to have your main power base setup to produce a large amount of MJ, this can mostly be done with boilers, though they can be expensive to initially setup. Another lower cost method is something like a peat engine. You won't want to use magmatic engines for this setup because it goes against the concept. What you would do is setup an Igenous Extruder to output cobblestone into a Magma Crucible, which you would want to have powered with 20 MJ/t. You would then take the lava produced and load it into a liquid storage cart and use those going through myscraft portals to power a geothermal on the other side, giving a total of 20,000 EU per bucket worth of lava. Another method is using a liquid transposer next to the magma crucible and fill buckets with the lava and trasnporting them via normal loaders/unloaders through a chest cart, and the setup another transposer next to the geothermal on the receiving end.

Going with your limitations that would probably be the easiest system to setup that bypasses energy loaders and enderchests. Well that or the other relatively easy setting up of a loader/unloader train that would load batteries/energy crystals into a chest cart and unload them into a storage unit in another dimension, then reload the empty batteries into the cart to have them recharged. That system would also be able to make use of any current EU generation you have going.

Basically, even within your limitations there are tons of methods to do what you want done, you just have to think slightly outside of the box.

Edit: Blast you people with your short, quick replies!

If you have a star fissure in you myst craft age you can dump charged crystals down into that, and then have obsidian pipes at the world spawn to pick them up

@memorian that is brilliant, but alas, no star fissure.

@daemonblue its just for EU, no need to convert energy back and forth. We have several tanks filled with BC fuel. This should be fully automated, as we're looking to keep an automated item sorting/processing system in the spawn world fully powered, on top of manual machines and somewhere around 15 centrifuges.

Honestly, I was hoping for something that didn't involve 2 greg-tech charge-o-mats, but it seems its the best option. The energy loader/unloaders wont build, despite their appearance in NEI and that they are enabled on both client and server sides. We'll probably end up going with cart full of lap-crystals being transported back and forth, I think. Was hoping for an alternative!
