Windows .exe cant update launcher

when I start the launcher it says that it is a new update to the launcher, and when I press the yes button, the launcher closes and nothing happens, and yes console closes to. when I open the launcher, it is the same version and says that it is a update.

java version: 6.0.240.7
I am trying to update from launcher version 1.0.1

do some1 know how to fix it?

happens sometimes, just try more, if not works make a clean install ... or redownload jar/exe

Go into your FTB folder, wherever you have it installed. There should be a folder in there that says something like "updatetemp" or something like that. The new launcher is in that folder. Just copy/paste it out of there into the main folder.

This worked for me. I had the same issue when I first updated the launcher.

Also, if you're running windows, you should use Java 7, and update it to Update 9. Java 6 will cause a few other issues that you don't want to deal with. Also, amke sure your Java bit type matches your OS bit type. And when upgrading to a different version of Java, make sure you completely uninstall old versions of Java (a computer restart will ensure you have completely uninstalled)

Do any of you happen to have a space or a special character in any of the names of the folders that the launcher file is placed in?

Hello.

Not sure if you're intentionally on an old launcher/java version:
Remove java, download the latest version from Oracle, then download the latest FTB and put it in a new folder.

The issue is spaces in the file path, remove all spaces and it will be fine A fix has already been deployed but of course you cant get it because of the issue :3

when I updated to java 7 update 9 now, the launcher can update normaly but when I press the launch, the launcher closes and nothing happens, no error in the console.

and yes vanilla minecraft starts so java is ok.

Make sure your version number is 1.0.5 now (can be seen in top of the launcher window)
Delete your logindata file, start the launcher, enter your logindata again, try to launch.
If that don't work then we'll need a bit more information.

Edit: Shiny error log! Set your max memory back down to 1024

ok, now the max memory is 1024, and now it is working, tanx a lot, but why cant I have it higher than 1024?

It have something to do with 32bit java, might be possible to make ut use more memory, but i don't know how.

so you have wrong but I may have java 32.....

yeah I had 32 bit and 64 bit java... and the 64 bit was on disc I and 32 bit on C so it used that on C...

I apologize for that then, i starting trying to read error logs for less then a week ago so they don't make much sense to me at all.
Im guessing the 86x windows part must caused by the use of 32bit java then yet that don't make much sence.
And even in my short experience with java crashlogs have i seen it claim people are running all kinds of wierd versions when they obviously are running windows 7.
Learn something new every day i guess
At least the game is working now, so get your 64bit java working and you can crank up the max memory again!
