A friend and I were trying to play FTB on LAN, but for some reason we can't connect. We both get this error to each other, even when checking IP's through IPConfig \all. Shutting down firewalls also resulted nothing. We also double-checked if we were both on the same launcher version, the same installed mods, and those were all positive.

Odd thing is that everything else works fine. Even vanilla minecraft on 1.7.10 works without poblem.​

That's all. There is nothing more to add, this was literally from a fresh start-up.

Instead of trying to connect via the Lan world which appears under the server list, do it manually by using the host ipv4 : port.
Another thing you could try is letting him connect from another router

The two PCs are trying to connect to each other using LAN? There is no server software involved in this connect.
Where are the PCs relative to one another? behind the same router, across the net.
Which one is hosting and which one is connecting?
Are you using any programs to facilitate the connection? Such as hamachi.

he is using the open to lan thing. That doesn't give a crap about normal port.

They are both on the same WLAN network. He's wireless and so am I. We've tried it as well with directly cabling it to the router, but to no result.
They are both on the same network, as said above, so they are connected to the same router. As said, normal Minecraft works perfectly fine.

We've tried this double-sided. With either me as host, or he with me as host. ODDLY ENOUGH, though, he could not see me when I hosted (but manually filling in the IP gave the same error as I have.). This might be a clue to what's wrong.
And no, we're not using any software to support the connection. No proxy's, no hamachi, nothing but minecraft FTB.

When you go LAN, you get a random port number, not just 25565.

that shouldn't be all of the log. There should be tons more. Possibly get the error again. Shut down both games immediately. Find the logs at "FTBInfinity\minecraft\logs\fml-client-latest.log" (these should show a stimetamp close to that of when the attempt was made). Copy them somewhere else and then upload them to seperate pastes on pastebin and link to them both here.

I have had a lot of issues with LAN. It is to the point that I usually just have one of the PCs running the server software as well. Then both PCs connect to that server. It works out a lot better for me. The PC I am using to do that isn't beefy at all (all the parts are not only old but cheap). So it might be worth a try running a similar setup to bypass a lot of the LAN stuff.

The only other possibility I can think of is "Firewalls". If you have a different firewall installed then the default Windows one then the windows one might still be active.

All the active firewalls on the PC have to allow the Program access out and in to it.

I'm the same as you Anhark. Used to play no bother then one day LAN game wouldn't show up on computer 2 for me. I then moved save game over to computer 2 and it showed up on computer 1 but connection timed out and wouldn't connect. It also happens with other mod packs on FTB but LAN works fine on Vanilla.
