Cant find chickens,

in the direwolf 20 pack that i am using i cant find any chickens.
Is their a way to check if they actually spawn.

You have to explore the map for chickens. Animals spawn with the terrain and a very low chance of spawning on grass.

it's nothing in the configs, sometimes you just have some bad luck and certain things are hard to find.
if you are playing the DW20 pack I'd suggest going to some mystcraft ages and make a flat plains biome, those are usually very good for getting animals.
but ofcourse the problem is, you need feathers xD

There shouldn't be any configs that modify chicken spawning, that is a purely vanilla thing. Have you installed any outside mods (Mo Creatures in particular)? There's also a chance a jar mod (such as Optifine) could cause this problem, it's slight, but possible. Give us a list of any extra installed mods you have, if there are any.

Finding chickens for me is almost as difficult as finding a desert sometimes. This list might help you. Chickens don't always spawn where you'd expect them. Check the biome requirements: https://github.com/ExtrabiomesXL/ExtrabiomesXL/wiki/List-of-Biomes

Ex biomes configures what mods may spawn in what nonstandard biomes.

Chickens spawn in places with sparcely populated forests, and large flat lands that are not swamps.

I stand corrected, check out which biomes will spawn chickens.
