I can open the launcher and the mod packs load but when i press launch it tries to download the mod pack. first thing it does is try to download the minecraft 1_5_2 minecraft jar but i cant. I dont understand if this is a permission thing or what. It does this for all the mod packs. How do i put the pastebin here for you guys to see?

Pastebin.com works by clicking on the 'Paste my log to pastebin.com' button. It should create a link at the bottom of the console. Post that link it provides. If that does not work then we know it is an issue with the launcher not being able to connect not just the minecraft servers being down for you.
Where are you trying to install the launcher and download the mod packs? If it is anywhere besides a folder on your desktop I suggest following this guide to do it. If after doing that you are still experiencing problems please post a new console log. If the log will not post then please copy it yourself so you do not create long posts. Look here so your log does not get deleted.

I cant paste my log it says address family not supported by protocol family : connect
so does that mean that ftb launcher cant connect with the internet ?

I cannot see which version of Java you have so I cannot verify which version you are using. Connection errors are often caused by antivirus programs or firewalls. Try temporarily disabling your antivirus program and double check that your fire wall is allowing the launcher through. Have you made any changes to you computer recently or is this the first time you are trying to run the launcher?

I didnt make any changes or change to any different firewall programs or antivirus programs.
i disabled mt firewall and that didnt work and i dont know what antivirus program i have. That wouldnt be the problem because it let me play the mod packs 2months ago but since a week ago i havent been able to
