Can't destroy blocks in multiplayer server (I'm an op)

I started a multiplayer server through feed the beast and everything worked smoothly.

When I launched the server for the first time, I made myself an op and everything worked fine. I was able to break blocks and kill mobs, even in the spawn area. Then however, I drowned because i tabbed out and wasnt paying attention and respawned and all of a sudden i couldnt break blocks. I would break it and then it would just reappear.

I was still an op as i could still change the time and game mode.

I moved far far away from the spawn area (well beyond the 16 blocks of spawn protection) and still couldnt break blocks. they just kept reappearing right after i broke it

It is highly unlikely it is lag because i am still able to kill sheep and kill mobs no problem.

I can also break like tall grass and flowers and mushrooms and pick them up, its just building blocks i cant pick up/break.

Any information on this problem would be greatly appreciated ! lemme know if u need anymore information.

It sounds a bit like you're in Adventure Mode, have you tried using the correct tool for the job, aka shovel on dirt, axe on wood, etc?
Because in Adventure mode you can only break things without their specific tool and stuff like tall grass or mushrooms don't have them.

Adventure mode is gamemode 2 if you're wondering

That's a plugin, it might be Essentials or something like that, but bear in mind that many plugins are not Forge-Compatible (luckily I think essentials is)

Sorry, I've never actually made my own server, just adminned them, so I wouldn't know. You'd probably be able to find Essentials on google pretty easily though; if all else fails there's a dedicated section of this forum for this exact kind of thing (Server admin section or something)
