I've tried making some thaumium, using iron ingots + blaze powder, but whenever I use the wand I just get iron nuggets. I guess this is because the praecantatio isn't being used up, is there a way to make so that it is?

Blaze powder I believe has part of the iron transmutation formula, and there may be two valid recipes in your cauldron. Try not using blaze powder, and use carved sandstone for the magic part.

I would suggest two sliverwood logs and one iron for a piece of thaumium
The iron and blaze powder probably equals two recipes

How many blaze powder are you using as thaumium requires 4 powder per bar as each blaze powder is equal to 1 magic and you need 4 magic per bar. As for getting iron nuggets that is due to the iron transmutation requiring only 2 metal aspects per nugget and each iron has 8 metal. As for any extra including the lone magic aspect your adding is going towards the flux in your area.

If you look closing at the recipes in your thaumonomican it says exactly how many of each aspect is needed to each item.

Yes, be very careful you have the right amount of aspects! The same thing happened to me, threw in some iron and whatever block had magic and got some iron nuggets. I was really confused until I realized I didn't add enough of the magic aspect. Tried again with more magic aspect and I got my thaumium.
