Windows .exe Can't connect to FTB download servers

Hi,
I downloaded the FTB launcher v1.2.4 (which is on the frontpage). However when I try to launch any modpack the following happens:

Logging in...
Login complete.
Ultimate
dirs mk'd
Loading Jar URLs
Downloading Jars
Connection failed, trying again
Connecting.. Try 2 of 5
Connection failed, trying again
Connecting.. Try 3 of 5
Connection failed, trying again
Connecting.. Try 4 of 5
Connection failed, trying again
Connecting.. Try 5 of 5
Connection failed, trying again
Download Failed
Error occurred during downloading the game

This happens every time I've tried to launch. I've tried temporarily disabling my firewall, I've tried downloading other modpacks, but nothing. Anyone else getting this issue?

Edit: I just tried changing the install directory to my Downloads folder and it works, but I don't want to keep my FTB files in there, I want them in a seperate folder in Program Files (I'm OCD like that). Does anyone know why the download fails when trying to install outside of my user directory?

This is probably caused by Win7/vista/8. Starting with Vista MS decided to protect the Program Files folder. Unless the launcher is run as an admin you will not be able to add any files or folders to the Program Files folder. Running FTB from your Program Files folder is not suggested for that reason and others I cannot think of right now. If you decide to do this I suggest trying the x86 folder as I think the exe is 32bit not 64bit.
