Can't connect to friend's server

Okay so i've been playing FTB for 4 days now on a friends server. But he had to go for 20days so now me and my friend can't play FTB.. So my friend decided to put up his own server. But i couldn't reach the server. We followed 21 different tutorials without luck. He can host normal servers and Tekkit servers but not Feed the beast


Hope you guys can help me!

I can't connect? I can't even see the server is puplic. Like if the server was down. That's what i see

how has he got it set up? Are you both on the same LAN? are on on different networks connecting over the internet? Is the server behind a router or firewall? If it's behind a router or firewall, are you forwarding the correct port? Are you specifying the correct port when you connect to the IP address? Are you both using the same version of feed the beast? Is the server running the correct version?

These are things we need to know. "We set up the server and we cannot see it" is not much information.

We aren't on the same LAN. Yes we're on different internet connections. We are running the server through hamachi. It's not behind a firewall. We could host tekkit and normal MC: So ports should be forwarded. yes we're both using the same version of FTP. And yes the server is the correct version too.
