cant connect to friends server FTB Revelation

  • Tech Support section is for getting help with FTB related problems. If there's a repeatable issue that can be labeled as a bug, then please use the issue tracker for the pack or the app at GitHub issue trackers - If there's no repository for a pack that means that the pack is old and/or will not be updated. Bugs for older packs will not be fixed, unless they are critical.

my friends are all able to connect to the server. so i do know it is not a server issue itself.

it takes roughly 1 hour to 1 and a half hours to launch the game from the time i hit the play button in feed the beast launcher. this time is spent loading the mods, with 0 background process running.

when i finally get into the game, it says either a blank screen with minecraft dirt texture background, or loading server, for about 30 minutes, then it says cannot connect due to timeout. i can normally run minecraft without mods.

i have also run other games with many mods on them ( skyrim 400+ mods) and etc. so am a bit confused.

seems ftb eats up the disk meter in my task manager. cpu rocks around 80%, rest of the values are at about 40%.

my pc's only weak point is the Ram at 6 gigs, but thats more then over the amount needed for mine craft

and all my in game settings are set to the absolute minimum.

Skyrim is not java based.

Mod packs based on 1.10-version of Minecraft and later needs 4-6gb allocated to be able to run smoothly ( there's some exceptions where you can get by with 3-4GB - but Revelation is not one of them)

Java will use additional memory, beside the amount you've allocated in the launcher.

So if you set it to 4gb on the launcher, then it's 2gb left out of your 6gb for the java engine, other software on your machine (browser tabs being open usually hogs a lot) + the operatingsystem itself.

When you run out of ram, it will start to swap (use your disks for off-loading) + put extra strain on your cpu and gpu.

With all this said - just by checking your post, my guess is that your machine is not keeping up.

But there could of course be other issues - 3rd party antivirus causing issues for you.

My suggestion is that you try and get more ram for your machine, if you have 3rd party antivirus - make sure to add exceptions/whitelist (could be named differently depending on the software) for java and the game folder.

If you still have issues, then get full log and share that - instructions for that can be found here:

I urge you to read what I wrote - all of it, not just parts - and try and understand it.

Your machine needs more ram, and no - you should not allocate all the ram you have, that will leave nothing for the OS and other applications - as I wrote in my previous post.

i miswrote. i tried allocating less, it ran better but crashed.

so what would the minimum ram needed be? and would a crash report help

You're still not reading my first answer - all the information is in there. The issue is not the pack, it's your machine.
