Problem Cannot craft gears past stone

Due to an issue I seem to not be capable of crafting any sort of gears past stone gears. All of the gears, when following the designated recipe, are from Applied Energetics 2, which seemingly don't work with the other recipes for any gears in the Thermal Foundation mod. I have no clue as to why this occurs, but what annoys me is even when I spawn in the proper stone gears from Thermal Foundation, then the recipes still don't work at all.
Some friends and I are playing the modpack on a server, and this is why I am posting it here. Sorry if it is the wrong thread to do so.

So if this is a server side issue - how did you setup the server?

Are you using the provided files - or are you also using plugins?
(or edited the pack in any way, removed/added mods etc.)

I wasn't the one to set up the server, sorry, I was just the one to notice the error whilst tinkering with thaumcraft. I will link this thread to my friend who did though
