I have Biomes o'Plenty active on the Direwolf20 (v1.0.3) Minecraft Version 1.7.10, and for some reason, this modpack treats the Ancient Staff as an uncraftable item, along with the three parts also uncraftable. Is this some sort of a bug I'm encountering or does it have to do with the config files?

I believe that the Promised Land was disabled in 1.7.10 due to some issues with lag, terrain generation and rampant pixie spawning.

If you ignore the first post, this is shaping up to be a thread about the most depressing religion ever.
"The promised land has been disabled because there were too many pixies. Also, the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off, and dead souls just get stuck in their bodies".

Sorry, just tickled me a little.

They could've just disabled the pixies and done away with a huge part of the lag, at least as I experienced it. I, for one, liked the Promised Land. Except with Ars Magica installed because AM spawned its mobs LITERALLY EVERYWHERE, even in freaking heaven where hostile mobs otherwise don't spawn. There's just something about building a castle in heaven out of holystone and vibrant quartz glass that appealed to me quite a bit.

What got to me most was that they didn't disable the Tanzania, amber, ruby and sapphire ore spawns by default.

I know they can be made into decorative blocks but for those that didn't know till now (me), my mining shafts are littered with those ores and every time I see one, a little bit of me dies inside.

That's odd, because I never find them. I have to do weird ore dictionary tricks to get most of it, and had to dial the tanzanite in because there was literally none in a 2km radius of the appropriate biome.

yeh, A bit saddened that promised land is disabled (havent seen it myself). I I was wondering if the enderIO mob biome disable feature would apply to other creatures (or only to its own mob). hmmm That would be a nice user applicable fix (disable pixies in the promised land).

And the gems cant get doubled too. :( but they were quite useful early game as picks.

Anybody know how one re-enable it if they are brave surviving the lag?

Odd. I never experienced any lag in the promised lands except for a minute or two after entering it for the first time. Too bad about the disabling, I liked the place.

we should start a petition to see if there's enough people that are willing to show them how much we really enjoyed their work in the hopes that they don't abandon it :( This is the kind of feature that I love in mod packs. Yeah yeah item this and item that blah blah blah but this adds a really neat facet to the game.

Indeed. The promised lands have a style and a mood all of their own, and that's what I'm looking for in mods these days. It's one reason why Thaumcraft is so successful I think, because it has those elements as well on top of providing cool tools and interesting mechanics. A config option to disable the feature would be a better solution than removing it.
