Greetings All,

Server Admin Newb here! just started my MONSTER (1.05) Server a few days ago, and about 8 of us have been put in some rediculous hours. really enjoying it.

We have 1 huge mega base, and a friend has a second base about 400 blocks away.

I want to update the MONSTER modpack at the next iteration. but, there is a warning of a server wipe with the new update.

1) Can I update without the wipe? (I'm sure we will know more when 1.09 comes out)

2) THE REAL QUESTION >>> Is there a way to Copy my base into an external file, and pop it back into existense on another server? (Or in this case, in to a newly wiped server).

I don't think any of us plan to re-make our base
thx all

1) Yes. This will primarily only affect newly generated chunks. These chunks will usually generate as a big wall/cliff between them and the old chunks. Some people don't like this, which is why the reset is recommended.

2a) Before updating, always make backups. This way in case your base doesn't make it, you can just restore the backup.

2b) As for a way, plugins come to mind. In particular, WorldEdit.

You can update without any problems if you don't mind ugly chunk borders.

MCEdit. Backup your entire world. Then copy it into the saves folder for vanilla minecraft (under appdata/.minecraft etc) as that is where MCEdit looks. Open the world and find your base. Select all the blocks and then export. Then start a new world and look around for a nice place to have your base. Once you have found it, exit the game, copy the world into the saves folder for Vanilla minecraft (use a different folder name for the new world). open it in MCedit, select import and grab your base. You can move it roughly into place, then holding CRTL you can use the WSADQZ keys to nudge it one block at a time until it fits where you want it. Then hit enter and save the world. Copy the world back into your FTB saves folder. Voila. New world, old base.

NOTE: Take all your items off your person and put them in a chest. Also take everything out of any ender chests and put them in a normal chest. The data for those 2 locations are stored in your player.dat file which you don't want to copy over as you may spawn inside of a mountain 1000 blocks away form your new base. Also break your nether portal, remove the control block for any enhanched portals, and break/delete any mystcraft books. None will work in your new world. Once in the new world replace the control block and your nether portal block and relight/reconfigure as needed. Myscraft books need to be remade from scratch.
