I plan on running a FTB server on an old Dell I have. I want to be able to host 3-4 people at a time, and run the FTB mindcrack server.
The server will be a Dell Dimension 8300, with a Pentium 4 "Northwood" 3.0GHz, and 2GB of DDR Ram. My upload is roughly 1mbps, and download 3 mbps. Only 3 people will be externally accessing it, since I will be connecting to it on the home network.
I will probably restrict certain things to help it along, e.g. limit the amount of chunks loaded, and preloading chunks. Are there any other tips you can provide, since I am new to FTB. But I have run Bukkit/Vanilla servers before.
If the PC is not able to run as a server, are there any cheap, reliable hosts that can run FTB Mindcrack?
Also are any of the FTB variations less intensive server-side, or are they all about the same?
