Not sure if it's allowed. I didn't see anywhere that said "seed requests here" or something, so I decided to put up a post here.

I play on Infinity and would like to create a world that has lots of flat areas, but is better than selecting Superflat when creating. I like the diversity that BoP gives me, I just want flat areas to build cities on. If anyone knows a seed I can use to get these that would be great. Thank you.

I play Infinity on MC 1.7.10

Don't want to be a pain in the butt, but IMO all architecture becomes better by being built in/on a dynamic terrain. Try and make it work in your favour instead of against you. I will guarantee you end up with a much better result if you put in that extra little bit of effort.

Use terraces to locally smoothen the terrain out. Make ramps and stair cases going up and down. If the area where you want to build a building varies in height, then use it to make a basement cargo delivery entrance on the low side for example.

Not to be a pain in the butt, but it seems like OP makes a perfectly reasonable request for some flat ground to work on, and you respond with a lesson in architecture? How does "Can I request a seed?" translate to "Teach me how to make pretty buildings?"

Perhaps he has a vision for the most amazing looking factory town you've ever seen? Maybe, just maybe, he just wants some flat ground to build his factory because, like me, he enjoys engineering challenges and automation and doesn't give a damn what the building looks like! (Get the rope!)

Sorry, pet peeve of mine. I'll return to my giant, rectangular workshop. Made of cobble.

PS: I disable Chisel and Carpenter's Blocks. #FightThePower #Anarchy

I don't know one off hand but all a seed helps with is determining the biomes close to spawn, is an infinite world so any seed will have large flat areas somewhere. My suggestion is just cheating in a jetpack and doing some scouting...

@OP:
I can't give you a seed since I prefer more interesting terrain for my worlds, but I second ScottulusMaximus' suggestion: if you have Morph, kill a bat and scout in bat form, else cheat in a jetpack and scout. You'll find lots of flat terrain in almost any world, not too far away. In my experience, a world where interesting terrain is dominant is, well, more interesting to play in, as long as you have enough flat ground to build on *somewhere*, if building on flat ground is your preference.

One consideration though: vertically arranged bases are easier to protect. I have all my farms on the roofs of buildings, and extending my base or adding a level to an existing building takes nothing more than a five-minute session with the Buildcraft Builder, using one of my modular building designs.

I could by wrong, but the main reason that there isn't a thriving seed-sharing community here is that everything changes the output of the seeds. The terrain generation is a random number generator based on both the seed, and the game itself. The generation for a given seed will change with different MC versions, different forge versions, different mods added, different mod versions, and possibly different configs.

The point is that, unlike in vanilla MC, where a seed shared for a 1.7.10 world will work on any 1.7.10 install, a seed shared on here requires a very exacting setup to replicate. Many people prefer to customise their packs, have to remain on old versions until servers update, or simply prefer different packs, so finding someone that wants to both give/recieve a seed and runs the exact same pack spec as you is next to impossible.

I'm aware that I'm not answering the OP's request any more than anyone else here, but I am trying to explain why no one else is answering either.

Not this again...

I am sorry. Was not aware that I was not allowed to try and help the OP in an alternative way if I did not have exactly what he was asking for. I suppose we should all just keep quiet and ignore the post since so far noone have been able to supply him with a seed. I am sure that would make this place a much more friendly place to come for help.

And maybe we should just let the OP speak up if he does not like how people try and help him? After all I don't see why it should offend you that I try to help him. And I specially don't see how your post is of any help to the OP.

I came here to help the OP. Why are you here? (rhetorical)

I can't echo this enough. I started a new DW20 1.7 pack without witchery using my phone number as the seed. Later I reinstalled it (I did some things I shouldn't have and broke it). This time I was lazy and left witchery in. The world was COMPLETELY different. Suddenly instead of a meadow I'm on top of a mountain and staring down into a valley at a huge walled in village. Thank you RNG for providing me with a new home right out the gate.

Shelter check
Bed check
Villagers (lots of them) check
Iron Golem spawn check

The point is one small thing will change the seed for you... I would suggest this. Create a world with a random seed (either one you made up or just let fate decide) go back to the title copy it as a creative mode and explore around and see if you can find something close to spawn. If you don't like it try again. You'll find something I would venture within the first 3 go's.

Alternative, Spawn a creative mystcraft book with all symbols and some basic mats. Create a few books with desired result and biomes and try them out. Boom New custom overworld (that's not called overworld... and has a book)

;)

Have fun!!!! (sorry couldn't be more help)
