Butterfly pollination

Alright so I'm working towards getting a Silver Lime sapling and read that butterflies can pollinate trees.

Will this setup work? The left is a Silver Birch and the right is an Apple Oak.

Quite honestly I've never seen a butterfly and I don't know why I haven't
 
Check the biome. If you're using BoP then none of those biomes will work with butterflies. You'll need to find a vanilla biome for that setup.

But yea it should work (you'll just have to wait a while for a butterfly to "spawn")
 
In case the area in glass, so when flutter's do spawn, they stay around the tree's otherwise they will wander away.
 
Yes butterflies do pollinate trees. Omnicron has an explanation on how to do it (how to make trees breed themselves)
 
It's been 3 days now and nothing has happened to the trees, this is in a forest biome so it's not in a BoP biome.
Has anyone got a clue what's up?

You've only got two trees, the more trees you have, the more likely you'll get a pollination event

EDIT: Just looked, they're both vanilla trees aren't they?
Butterflies only get generated from forestry trees, treealyze some saplings and put them in to get your butterflies
