On of the folks on my server had a Build Craft quarry going and he placed a dirt block on the frame of the quarry and crashed the server..

After I restarted the server the Chunk that he placed that dirt block on the frame on was reset. Here is a picture beloow if your not sure what I mean. The 1 chunk reset and came back.

Could this have caused any other issues on the server? Like anything being corrupted or anything? WHen the server crashed it did not produce a log file for the crash.

The red lines are from a mod to show chunk borders

In my limited experience, the fact that the chunk regenerated rather than stayed as a missing spot is a good thing.

I wouldn't build anything crucial in that pit though.

I doubt the chunk regenerated. Block changes are not immediately saved to disk, they are in the server's memory for some period of time before written out. That can be quite awhile depending on how it's configured, and the whim of the server code (in my experience). When the server crashed it just lost the unsaved changes.

It's hard to say what corruption that could have caused. Changes in other chunks might have been written to disk fine, even though this one was not, I've seen that happen. In any case if things seem okay and the server isn't throwing errors I wouldn't worry about it. Still, it never hurts to have regular, frequent server backups going.

Looks like someone set off a ICBM Rejuvenation Explosive there. But really, that's interesting. I'd wait until the next server reset to be certain, but I'd bet not much else happened. Maybe somewhere a chicken died.
Could be worse, though. If there was a lava lake down there, that quarry might have been buried in a new RP2 Volcano. I was on a server where some guys were testing ICBM explosives out.(it was GregiousT and SpwnX, actually) They tried a Rejuvenation explosive while they waited for ICBM to fix one of it's Recipes to support the ore dictionary correctly and managed to create a volcano. Very odd. Nice windfall, though. Basalt is nice, and sometimes hard to get enough of.

I understand that block changes can be lost when the map isn't saved, but quarries work layer by layer, not chunk by chunk. That's a legit chunk regeneration. Otherwise there would be more then one chunk of stuff back.

THis is the first time I've ever experienced something like this so I was worried that it might have caused damage to the world or something. As far as I can tell its only that 1 chunk that did that.

To go into more detail about what caused the server crash the guy on my server placed a dirt block on the upper frame part of the quarry and a min later the server crashed.

The server actually just crashed again but I tihnk this time its on my hosts end as I can't even log into my control panel. (Creeper host) I really like creeper host there support is awesome but I always have issues with the CP for some reason.
