Hello & Merry Christmas to all

Just some fun with Witchery Hobgoblins & Botania's Orechid, There are alot of ways to make this more efficient & it's not a perfect system but more a method of creating ores & mining them without tech. I did have to slightly tech it with the cobblegen, the XU option is just too tempting over vanilla. Enjoy

Use golem placing stone blocks
Orechids change them to ores
Hobgoblins mine the ores

I am still laughing about the goblins being tied to the fencepost, like its just so...useless, they are already trapped in the pit and you just needed that extra mile of slavery undertones.

At first there was a slight twang of guilt, now it's just mine slaves mine!!!
But according to hobgoblin mechanics they won't mine or collect without the leashes.

6 thermolilies running full speed is not enough to keep up with 2 orechids, so it is possible to grow them but I think I prefer the idea of disabling the system while the pools refill. If you did want to scale this up though, 2 x orechids seem to be fast enough for 1 x hobgoblin mining with 2 stacks of cobble mined out of a full wooden chest of other resources.

Something further for anyone who tries this; hobgoblins mine anything that is a default pick material & some items that aren't, it would seem like wood & carpenters blocks are your best bet at keeping it all contained. Be sure you do otherwise it can get messy - they mine up enderchests, hoppers, furnaces, etc & the like as well. You can give the miner hobgoblin most picks, unfortunately in my tests fortune, silk touch, fiery pick, pickaxe off the core, etc wont get their benefits. Hobgoblins also only mine blocks on the level they are on, so doing 2 height stone won't help unless you make access to it which can get a little trick with the use golem method, they will however hop on top of placed stone & ruin your day from time to time until you figure out where you derped I ditched the collecting hobgoblin in favour of a vacuum hopper placed out of reach, it was getting a little claustrophobic with all three of them sharing that space.
