Botania - Runic Altar Help

So here's my setup.

I'm trying to make runes of fire, but I can't get the altar to accept mana from the mana spreaders. I've placed the ingredients on the altar and right clicked with my wand, but nothing is happening. The spreaders are just staying full. Any idea what I might be doing wrong here?

Perhaps place a Mana Pool very close to the Runic Altar (ofcourse, with the Spreaders pointed at it). I am not entirely sure, but that may do the trick.

I struggled with this for a long time... I'm not sure what finally fixed it... but, I think it's that my spreaders had to be touching my mana pools in order to be able to transfer mana.
