BnB tips for mining in nether?

When mining in the nether I am losing about 85% of the ore I try to mine to explosions. Is there a better method or something I can do to limit the amount of blocks that explode so that mining in the nether is atleast worth it?

Also.. I have yet to find any Shadow Iron in the Nether? Does anyone know if it spawns at specific levels? My portal is up at level 75 and I am trying to locate a place to mine down (haven't found it yet).

Use a hammer maybe? You should be able to mine multiple blocks at once this way
And you can also try a silk touch pickaxe. Do not use a fortune pick as that increases the likelihood of the ore exploding.
