lol just read the links people have provided.
The post reeks of "Do my thinking for me!" and has nothing to do with being "nooby". Everyone was a "noob" at one time and some even crawled out of the noob hole completely by themselves, usually it's the ones who get pissy when you ask them to do their home work for them.
I'm not sure why people these days seem to think they are entitled to not have to umm... think. Sure this is just a game but you should relish every moment to teach yourself something.
Nothing get's you familiar with file structures then modded minecraft.

It is not that it did not detect it, it prefers 32 bit (figure that one out.)I had that a long time ago, uninstalling the 32 bit version worked for me.
(The launcher didnt detect (At that time) I had a 64 bit version installed somewhere
sketch i did something in the settings if you didnt say i had to go there i wouldnt have made it work.
