I have realized that my building was not going to be large enough to contain a full Tier 6 Altar. So, with Excel fired up, I started the re-design process. My question is, will the Altar work IF the Tier 6 Crystals are OUTSIDE of the building? Curious wether or not these crystals need to be in the "Line of Sight" for the Altar to function properly. Thanks in advance.

No line of sight is required. Except for the runes, and the blocks that MUST be blocks, the rest of the altar can be air or solid as you like.
My current altar is, with the exception of the altar block itself the first ring of runes and protruding pillars, entirely buried / submerged.
