Biomes O' Plenty - Mystic Forest

I'm playing 1.5.2 with Biomes O' Plenty, and found a Mystic Forest. I though about setting up shop here and started down a natural cave. No sooner do I enter the cave, than a witch starts heading my way to greet me. Of course since I'm just starting, I have absolutely nothing. I run away as fast as I can, and the witch chases me half-way though the forest. I loop back around, and spy a witch on the shore (which I assume was the one chasing me), then head back to where I was. There I find 2 more witches on the hill near the cave I encountered the first.

Do witches naturally spawn in the Mystic Forest? Or was I just (un)lucky? I've explored a mystic forest before in a test world, and never saw them. I'm playing hardcore mode so I don't really want to run into witches until I have a bit more in my arsenal.

It seems right that witches would spawn there.

You should probably either go underground and seal off your cave from the overworld or you should run as fast as possible away from the forest and towards a happy garden or something.

Yes. It is a nightmare. In my youtube series I set up shop in one and it's a constant struggle to go outside. I need to set up lights and sentry guns.

Good to know. I didn't know if there was a dark thaumcraft node nearby or if it was a natural spawn. I ended up setting up shop right next door in a Garden biome. I have a couple oil spawns close by, so that should get me going in the energy department for a bit.

Although I am basically the best and minecraft PVE now. Witches give you like 0 margin for error. They use AoE attacks so you need to know how to dodge and shoot your bow a the same time.

Yeah my bow skills are epic. Way to much vinilla play does that to you.

I don't PvP that is just mean.

Unless we are talking about Dark Souls then well it is just something that happens.

While the witches spawning are a nightmare it is definitely worth it to at least get a few saplings for the trees. They grow tall and straight and drop tons of saplings.

I'm going to head back as soon as I get a jetpack. That way, I can just fly out of things get too hairy...

I think a large mystic forest biome would be amazing it would always keep you on your toes. Very fairytale like.

I once challenged somebody in full diamond armor (with extra stuff on it, it was a bukkit server) and I dodged their arrow shots for 20 something seconds by just strafing and jumping and moving in unpredictable patterns.

Then I got up close and somebody blinked over and spammed fireballs everywhere and everybody including the spectators burned to death.


Lesson to be learnt: Don't challenge somebody when one of their friends is a mage.



On a side note, I would love to PVP anybody in a bow fight.

Chainsaws work great vs witches. You see, witches are made of wood. That's why they burn so good and if ya try to drown em they float to the top. Wood, no doubt about it.
