Biogas Engine lava question

Hello everyone:
I was wondering, how many restarts can one bucket of lava in a Biogas Engine using Biomas for fuel go through before it needs another bucket? I am thinking of using a few biogass engines for some of my machines and I was planning on using a buildcraft gate system to turn the engine on and off when its needed.

i'd highly advise against turning off and on biogass engines, however i think that 1 lava bucket goes about 4-8 restarts. Just set up a auto sugarcane farm with xycraft farmblocks to place sugarcane everywhere with increased growth rate and a sugarcane harvester from forestry in the middle with energy and item tesseracts on it to transport engergy to it and sugarcane to a hopper above a fermenter....
