I'm planning to start a new world for use in either the MindCrack pack or some other pack they release in the near future, and I'd like to use the same seed in this new world I create. I may be completely blind and/or idiotic, but I can't seem to find the world's seed in the F3 screen. I'm also unable to extract the seed data from the level.dat file.

Is the seed data where I've been looking for it and I just can't seem to find it, or is it in an entirely different place?

The easiest way I've found is to "copy" the world (select your world in the list of worlds and click on copy somewhere on the bottom, instead of creating a new world). If you then check the advanced options you will find the seed there.

I do have to tell you, the world generation is different. So a seed that looks awesome in Beta Pack A might be a bit less or more awesome in mindcrack or other future packs.
For example the seed I've been using recently spawns me on an island in an ocean, it still does that, but the mainland is a lot closer and differently shaped now. Pretty much the area around the start is still similar, but the further I move away the more different it gets (which makes sense actually).

I believe that by typing /seed when you have cheats enabled or are an op on a server will display it. If you want to temporarily enable cheats, open your world to LAN with cheats enabled, and then you can use the command. Exiting the world will turn LAN and cheats off again

it doesnt? gonna have to check that... be back

EDIT: I guess you are right... what was the purpose of making the seed harder to access?
