So, my friends and I have been putting off starting a new server for FTB because we don't want to have to regenerate our world once the next version comes out to get the RedPower worldgen. Plus we want to use both the tech mods and Thaumcraft, so we want the Thaumcraft worldgen as well. But we're getting antsy and starting to think the "maybe tomorrow" for RedPower might actually be a few weeks, so we might start the server early. My questions:
1) Since FTB isn't going to update until RedPower releases, but we want to use Thaumcraft, I guess we will have to do things manually by starting with the MagicPack and then adding the 1.4.5 versions of all the FTB mods, right? Have people done this and does it work correctly?
2) What's the best way to minimize how much of the map is going to be "wrong" when we finally get RP? I was thinking we could not move much from the spawn point and creative in some Mystcraft linkbooks and do most of our gathering there, and just build around spawn for now, so that we don't generate any new chunks. Is there a better way to do this?
