Best way to get from Point 'A' to 'B'?

Hey guys!

I am fairly new to FTB, so I am looking for some assistance.

Basically, Point 'A' is my Home in the Overworld, Point 'B' is my NetherFortress in the Nether. It is quite the journey to walk from my NetherPortal, to the Fortress, so I am trying to figure out a way to easily get from my Home, to the Fortress. I tried experimenting with the Linking Books, but I don't think those work.

What can I do!

You can take a book and craft it into a Mystcraft linking book, which will then allow you to travel to the place that it was crafted in. So, make a book in the fortress, place that book in the overworld and make a book there to bring back to the fortress!
Also, the books are easy to use to just travel from one place to another, but early on they can only be used from one dimension to another - no overworld-to-overworld, or anything similar!

Don't you have to use the Descriptive Books? When I make the Linking Books, the picture area is white, until I travel into the New Dimension

Read up a bit more on how Mystcraft works (or look it up on YouTube) and try again with it. It's the quickest way you'll get. Place the books on stands or lecterns so they don't fall on the ground and degrade, or make a Link Modifier and change them to Following books which will stay in your inventory. Alternatively, you can make a track from your portal to your fortress with reinforced rails which won't get blown up. Or just go with an enclosed normal track.

Descriptive Books are only for creating new Mystcraft ages. You can use just Linking Books for the Nether, Twilight Forest, etc.

Descriptive books are only required for creating new ages, linking books will always take you back to the location it was crafted as long as you are in a different dimension when using it (unless the book has been modified with a linkbook modifier).

Nope you use linking books and it goes like this: Create linking book A at the point you want to go to, your nether fortress for instance. Take it to the main world and put it on a book stand so you don't loose it there. that book should be usable to go to the nether fortress now. Repeat that but instead create the linking book where you would like to in the main world and deposit it on a book stand in the nether fortress.
Linking books will take you to the pint that you created them and without a linking book modifier they can not work in the world they were created in.

The link books should work. I just did a successful experiment. Here were my steps:

1. Create a link book in my overworld base.
2. Walk through nether portal and hike to a nether fortress.
3. Place the link book from (1) on a pedestal in the fortress.
4. Created a link book in the fortress.
5. Use the link book from (1) to go back to my base.
6. Place the link book from (4) on a pedestal in my base.

Now I can go back and forth from my base to the nether fortress using these two books.
