I'm impartial to just using saplings, they have some herba on them and arbor can be centrifuged in to herba and aier the aier can be void jarred along with the granum on the sapling.
It's not a high volume thing but saplings are plentiful with autofarms of all sorts. You can generate enough for 1 to 2 lamps.
It's more of a trickle of essentia more then a mass volume thing.

I went severe overkill. I made an MFR tree farm supplying an alementum fabricator for the fuel source and two max size (aka 25x25) MFR cactus farms for the herba feed. On the plus size I never ran out of herba for my lamps. :p

I just use leaves from trees, as they only give herba and nothing else, so no need for over complicated setups.
you could build 1 large tree farm with 2 harvesters with 1 harvester set to collect leaves, or build 2 small tree farms

This is also a better option. But adding an extra harvester to sheer the leaves just moves the build complexity to MFR instead of Thaumcraft. Then again Thaumcraft things are a little bit of a pain to build in comparison to MFR.

it's not really that complicated... just plunk down another harvester and hook it up onto your other harvester's system
heck, you can even just use your normal tree farm if you already had it set up and just teleport the leaves to your essentia system

I know it's not "complicated" just as setting up an essentia centrifuge and void jars isn't complicated. I'd still opt for the method you stated though.

Nether wart is good things as you can use it for two essentiass you need all the time. You can have Herba and then centrifuge pracentio into potentia for your alchemical furnaces so you kill two birds with one stone.

With the mfr set up you could have two harvesters one with a large upgrade and other small AG I use it to get dirt from leaves (eg size 3 upgrade and size 5)

ive played a lot with magic crops to automate herba production. you can grow coal, water and earth element crops, use the water/earth essence to generate leaf blocks, coal to feed a furnace. no need for killing trees ;)
