The tesla coil always used to be my old fallback for keeping griefers and just random other players away from my house on servers, but are there other options in the Mindcrack pack?

yes mffs, way better because you can set it to just take player's inventory when they enter or you could just kill them, or you could just put up a compleatley impenetrable forcefield around your base. you can also set it so that certain people can bypass the security such as your friends. Just look at Direwolf's last 5 or so forgecraft server ops for an example.

How big can you make a forcefield though? I have a pretty big house and it's surrounded by forestry fields.

well you can make it as big as you want with the right moduals, however anything over say 30 blocks would be pretty un realistic to even try. which is why i suggested the one that just takes everything out of the player's inventory upon entering/leaving as a warning of sorts and then have them just get killed if they still continue. This is called the Defense station and you can easily run a lot of them, each one has a maximum range of 32 blocks in both directions. Also i am pretty sure there is a forcefield upgrade that makes it withstand a nuclear blast so you can have one of those going around all you important stuff in you base. If you are that desperate for protection of course. I think you should watch Direwolf20's latest forge craft lp's though so you kinda know what i am talking about. and how you would set this up.

I think the inventory thing would probably be best. The issue were having on my small server is with theft, not actual griefing of standing structures.

yea, and it is really nice beause it puts all the stuff into a very big chest next to the defence station which i am pretty shure you can pump the stuff out of and either into several chests in your base for stolen items (because you will nees several stations) or you can be rally mean and just put the items right into your sorting station when/if you have one. The defense stations also have a warning radius that tells the player they are going to be robbed about 5 blocks outside the range of the station.
