Yes i know there are a million ways to have a tree farm, but i wanted to hear opinions.
I'm going to be setting one up soon in my world (currently I'm just planting a bunch in a pack and utilizing treecapitator to chop elm all at the same time) And wanted to hear the communities opinions on the best/easiest tree farms and why. What's the propros and cons of each system and why do you like it.

Im assuming that you are playing with 1.4.7, so im going to give my opinion.

If you dont mind spending ALOT of time, its impossible to beat a Forestry farm with some nice tree's, since steves carts cannot handle them in 1.4.7.
A good tree will be impossible to beat.

If you dont, just go with steves carts or Minefactory reloaded, their both really good (and i think reloaded can handle any type of tree)

(just so you know im a steves cart fanboy, so i'd pick it <3 )

Assuming you have power sources, Minefactory reloaded wins by far, it's easy to set up and works with a lot of trees. Stevens carts is alright but I always have to use the backup coal generator. It depends if its self sustaining or not

For me, anything apart from the new Forestry Multiblock farm. I just find they are lacking in creativity and prefer going for other mod solutions. Haven't tried them all, but have one managed to make a crude frameless test system in tekkit 1.2.5 with RedPower, and have done a Steves Cart system in FTB.

MFR with one planter, one fertilizer and three harvesters. Fertilizer uses IC2 fertilizer that's made out of IC2 fertilizer and scrap. Farm is managed by an AE network. This is enough to power something like 5 36HP boilers

I like the Forestry multifarms because I can make them do something other than trees once I have enough wood (or even in parallel to trees).

I have a similar set up feeding a bio-reactor, running 6 boilers on biofuel. it uses a stack of ic2 fertilizer a minute. And probably could run a couple more boilers out of the logs it produces.

I guess that sounds odd...
Not when you know about IC2 fertilizer :)[DOUBLEPOST=1368716930][/DOUBLEPOST]

MFR farms will grow just about anything. No melons or pumpkins though.
