I've gotten to the point where quarries and such are boring and i am looking for alternative mining solutions to mine only the lower levels. What modules should i put on the cart? Ill be using a reinforced hull

A chest

EDIT: Multiple chests so your mining trips are efficient, a galgadorian drill and a lava detector and bridge builder.

What kind of engines do you recommend for low levels, i have enough recourses for pretty much anything and would i need a track layer or will the bridge builder do that too

Probably what you can fit on the cart and have fuel for, coal or thermal. Coal might be better since as the coal is used up space will be created for the blocks you mine. Also, you need a railed to go with the bridge builder I think.

PS - A useful page to look up this stuff is the wiki (http://stevescarts2.wikispaces.com) where I have found all this info :)
