Best mob farm?

Personal favourite: Saice's pigmen farm. That, and dark rooms with grinders.
While rather clumsy, free mobs, man. Free mobs.

I used a small dark room connected to a grinder and an auto spawner to produce the ender pearls needed to finish my thaumcraft research. It didn't produce a lot of pearls, but then I didn't need many.

Or just make a dark room for you soulshards and then use your new T5 soul for the spawner.

Wow.. just another nerf but hey it's was kinda cheaty anyway. Otherwise you would have block smashers churning out high outputs.

I just did a bit of testing, and you can capture a max size slime, and set the auto-spawner to exact. It will produce more essence than it takes to generate, and quite a bit more than you get with random size spawns. It doesn't make as much essence as using slime embiggening syringes would, but you don't need lapis either.

If you have problems finding a max size slime, just put any size in the spawner, then capture a max size one when it is generated. It works just fine.

Soul Shards mob doesn't give essence? I'm using 1.1.3 version of Ftb Unleashed and still getting essences from my t5 enderman shard. Are you sure or was it in it's latest iteration?
