ReactorCraft feeding into an ElectriCraft battery, or direct conversion with a Rotational Dynamo.

As for mining, several boring machines will do what you need (RotaryCraft), or several backpacks and right click with a Bound Pickaxe with some sort of item magnet like the Sigil of Magnetism (Blood Magic). Last one isn't automatic, but it gets enough resources it doesn't need to be.
SOLAR TOWERS EVERYWHERE!

There is nothing that beats mining wells combined with mffs and AE tplanes. Nearly infinitly expandable and quite energy efficient for what you get out of it if designed well. Well if you have RiM installed its even faster and more efficient

That setup, while cool, is nothing compared to:
reika-speed boring machines.

36 of those will bring in THOUSANDS of ores and other blocks per second, requiring 14 extractors running at a crazy level of power to keep up.

MFR is a set and forget resource gatherer, so that's why I like it
Can a MFR laser drill generate ores from all mods?
Because in the wiki there is for example no "Yellorium ore" in the list. So only having an MFR laser drill would deplete the yellorium power source of my BigReactor, which provides the RF for the drill?

Currently I'm powering the MFR laser drill with 5000 RF/t (for testing). But with 5000 RF (= 500 MJ/t) you can run 10(?) quarries at full speed.
And it seems to me that even 1 quarry is faster than the laser drill at the given energy.
So there is no mainenance effort, but its slow for what energy it drains.

Are there other "set and forget" solutions for automated minig?

The laser drill will in fact get yellorium and other mod ores. If it didn't it wouldn't be as useful as it is in Agrarian Skies. That said, my personal favorite is the Digital Miner, because I can quarry in the overworld without leaving holes, it will silk touch things (including hives), you can target specific ores (I usually end up targetting iron when I first get one set up because I tend to use up all the iron I've gathered building it), it will mine through bedrock (you can set it up on the nether roof, and I always do because I hate the nether...I always get lost), and, if you know how to do it, you can mine things that aren't normally mineable, like buildcraft springs and bedrock.

It has a configurable black list, so it's possible to make it have no yellorium.
Contact your friendly server admin about whether or not they have changed it.

Bevo's tunnel bore.

Also, if you need information on ReactorCraft, look at some of @Pyure's posts around here. I've learned quite a bit from him. Other than that, there's very little information outside of the in-game handbook.

Rotarycraft and the other two aren't in TPPI.

Try the Mek Miner, TPPI adjusted the recipe but it picks up every ore in a 8 chunk radius if you configure it to. It can ales replace all blocks it mines.

Someone on TPPI Reddit said "if you're doing IC2, go for the Quarry+ or Mek Miner, if you're doing Magic, go for dig spells or arcane bores, if you're doing RF go for the Ender Quarry, Mek Miner or Laser drill".
