Hey all,
Has anyone else experienced bugs with using routers to send bees to barrels? I've got a bunch of different purebred hives setup to send their excess drones and combs to a sorting system, and the combs are working just fine. The drones, on the other hand, are being wonky. Three species are having no problems at all (ebony, farmed, and rural). The other species seem to get sorted to nowhere. To test it, I popped one of the affected drone species out of its barrel (it had about a half stack from when I initially filled the barrel) then set it in the router. The router made the little purple particles and the drone disappeared from the inventory slot, but it didn't go back to its barrel. I double-and-triple checked to make sure it wasn't going to some random barrel somewhere, and it wasn't. I tested again with some of the other affected species, same thing. And no, all of the drones are unidentified to make sure that that wasn't the stacking issue.

I'm really confused as to why it's happening, since some of the species aren't having any issues with the router. Does anyone know what might be causing it and/or have any suggestions to solve it?

Thanks in advance.

Don't use anything that's not NBT aware with bees. Which means no barrels or routers.

AE works though, as does buildcraft pipes particularly with alvearist pipe. Redpower will merge disparate drones together into a single stack.

I thought this would be about non-stacking bees and that might be part of the problem (test and make sure they all actually stack) but it sounds like the real issue is a router moving things to nowhere.

It is far more likely that they are going somewhere, but that this somewhere isn't where you expect. Search your base top to bottom until you find a chest or a machine that has bees but shouldn't. If you have the machine filter upgrade you can see what the router network includes. Watch, all your centrifuges will be completely stuffed with bees or something random like that.

Even completely identical drones sometimes don't want to stack. In these cases I throw them to the ground and collect them back up. Sometimes shift-clicking them between a chest and the inventory also works, sometimes a server restart is needed inbetween. Ever since Sengir implemented drones having generation numbers, this problem rears its head again and again. I hope that he fixed it for 1.5.1.

I have yet to figure out the logic behind this. I can have two partial stacks of identical drones in my inventory, try clicking them together and observe that they don't mix, wait a little bit, try again, and they stack just fine. One of these days when I get into this situation, I'll have to take a look at the two stacks with NBT Explorer and see if I can figure out the difference.

Wow. That's basically an item dupe. Turn your lousy drones into whatever you want!

Just in case anyone else is running into this problem, DoctorOr's note about Redpower merging drones was the issue. Even if you have a network of barrels with individual species in each one, the router will just convert any bees to whatever the last species placed in a networked barrel was and add it to that barrel.

Luckily, I have no need for the automated drones other than liquid DNA, so it lets me use just one upgraded barrel rather than a ton of different barrels for my facility.

Strange part is, I have the same issue, but with putting frames into frame housings. I did test with only 1 alveary completely taken away from my network and when the frame housing were full, frames continued to be "sorted."

in order to supply my alveary with frame, i`ve this setup:
frame storage chest>rp manager>tube>rp manager>relay>router with machine filter upgrade, to send items only into frame housing.
relay will always try to push items into router, forcing it to send frames when there is space for them, and managers will make sure that relay is supplied with frames.

as for bee storage(if you really need alot of drones) ME system with storage bus attached to indexer.
