what bee are ment to be able to work in biome's o plenty shrubland? i have tried loads but it always says hostile environment, i have even gathered both unusual and meadows bead from the shrubland itself but it stll tells me that the environment is hostile...

Isn't the Shrubland Hot/Arid? It feels like a desert, honestly.
A look into a apiary or other sort of thing should give you Biome info, such as Temperature and Humidity. Extrapolate from that what should work there by default, I guess.

Ya, shrubland is at the least normal/arid so not much is going to like it there by default. If you don't want to move do what I do, obtain a Silverwood sapling from thaumcraft, plant it and hope that it causes the biome to change around it (might need to actually have a pure node in it to effect the change.)

The bad part is hives can generate in biomes that don't support the bees. At least it used too. This gave me no end of confusion. I haven't played with binnie's mods yet in 1.6.4, so i haven't noticed if it is still true.
