so this doesn't seem to be well known and i don't know what to do with bug proclamations but here it goes( as in it is going here, where it is). if you have a buildcraft hopper on top of a centrifuge, and possibly other forestry machines but i haven't checked, and put a drone into said hopper it will obviously go into the centrifuge; however if you then put another drone into the hopper it, too, will go into the centrifuge, but as the machine has only one input slot the second bee stacks and becomes an identical copy of the first, as will any subsequent drones(at least in the mindcrack pack). i say drone because given that they are the only bees that stack i assume it only works with them, though for the same reason i never tried with queens or princesses. one may wonder why i tried to centrifuge a bee, i didn't, it was just a misplacement during frantic un-automated comb and bee processing. this is pretty handy if you have many junk drones and only a few with good traits you'd like to isolate, but it's still an exploit, so i doubt any apiarist worth their salt would abuse it. i don't have the means to produce a video on the matter, so if you want proof you'll need to spend 23 second in a creative world trying it for yourself. if you bothered to read this far, thank you for your time lol

You are welcome, I guess.

I didn't know about it from hopper+centrifuge (because I never tried to process a drone like that), but it is known that there are the same troubles with some RP (I think), as well as factorization's barrels.

But just so you know, the versions we are using on the packs are more than a month old now, and some of these problems have been fixed since.

For next time you find such problems, I advise that you go to the corresponding mod's thread/forum, do a quick search on the problem, and post about it there too, if nobody talked about it.
Do keep in mind that modpacks usually have versions that are not the latest, so don't post there without a search, or you might be reporting about a bug that has already been fixed.

Anyway, back to your problem.
Did you analyze the resulting drone to see if they are still valid and actual copies of the first drone, or if they somehow lost a bunch of informations?

Well, in 1.5, with the vanilla hopper, all mods will be forced to allow interaction with hopper and their machines, considering that the new hopper is vanilla. Previously, with Buildcraft containing the hopper, only mods that knew of buildcraft would bother.

It's not strictly a bee-related bug, and I gather the hopper is directly to blame. Take any item with multiple "variants" (serums, bees, probably quite a few saplings) and put them in the hopper. It'll start outputting clones of the original item, thinking they're all the same (when they're not).

Hoppers, and many other things, are not NBT aware which is what differentiates between different bee traits.

Redpower sorters, Factorization routers, AE import/export all have the same problems. 1.5.1 versions of these mods mostly cured these problems (the ones that have such versions) but the vanilla hopper was added which also has the problem.

The OP said he doesn't know what to do with bug reports. I'm showing him one way, unrelated to the present issue.

If Buildcraft has a similar tracker, I don't know where it is, I'm afraid. =/

Actually, don't mind me, I reckon you were right and it's a Forestry bug. I had a play around and found hoppers don't have this issue feeding into GregTech machines, but they do with eg the centrifuge, which is indeed a Forestry device.

Same thing happens with Hoppers and Saplings into a Fermenter. Bit of a way of "transmuting" one sapling into another.
