I'm in the process of making a relatively automated ore processor, and I have this doubt:

Should I macerate all my Bauxite Ores and keep the dusts or just keep the raw ore?

Currently I don't use any bauxite, but I read that it will be pretty important and I don't want to waste it all up converting it to dust if the ore is what I need..

Any tips?

You get aluminium (NOT aluminum, the useless version) and titanium out of it, so if you have the resources to spare to process it, I suggest processing it. That said, I usually manually process my take of bauxite every third to fourth quarry run, and it goes a LOT faster with four grinders, four electrolyizers, and four liquid transposers to send the hydrogen into my tank (although I am now in the process of making H2 and H3 with it as I've got way too much already).

I do not believe the ore has any other usage, but you can check via NEI to make sure.

I get aluminium out of the ore, not the dust?

My ore processor will only have a macerator and a furnace, all the more complicated ore processing will still run manually.

The only question is: keep my bauxite ores as is or macerate them and then keep them?

You an extra aluminium dust if you pulverize instead of macerate. Same for industrial grinding.

EDIT: Damn ninja

You really don't have to bother with the extra dust - unless you need a lot for some reason.

You are going to need an industrial electrolyzer to get anything out of the bauxite dust (twelve dust and eight empty cells for eight aluminium dust, two small titanium dust, five hydrogen cells, and three compressed air cells [you can decraft these, by themselves, into empty cells {and craft them from empty cells in a compressor}]).

This, times fifteen billion. I currently have around two hundred STACKS of aluminium ingots. But I still do it, as I want to fill up my barrel of the stuff. And the blocks aren't too ugly, too. Maybe I'll make a massive ship out of it.

Aluminum's going to be very common for you, I wouldn't really worry about it. Also, bauxite ore is 2 bauxite dust, so holding that will be a little bit harder unless you have it auto-stored in a barrel or something. But why not store the finished product?

Bauxite ore pulverised is 4 bauxite dust, not 2

Confirmed (as well as a 10% chance for aluminium dust). Industrial Grinding is the best way to maximize your yields, but it really isn't worth it with bauxite after you have a bunch.

If you have a lot of bauxite ore, you can use overclocked macerator (for faster process), since you will get a bunch of aluminium anyway. If you need a lot of aluminium (for example for floor block or decoration purpose) use the industrial grinder it will give 1 extra aluminium.

To actually answer the OP's question:

You will never need Bauxite in its ore form. Only the dust can be used for further production.

Ah feel free to recycle them when you get enough titanium and hydrogen to last you as long as you can look forward. Heh heh.

I'm fairly sure I already "actually" answered that, but thanks!

Hmmm... guess I'm getting old, better grab some glasses...

To be fair, my answer was NOT definite, and it was also at the end of my post, whereas you directly answered posed question and in a definite way as your entire post. So, in the end, everyone wins (like a Disney movie, except with less musicals [although we COULD change that...]).

Actually titanium and aluminium blocks are pretty floor block, I removed all my dirt blocks around the base with it :D, and hydrogen.. probably best to centrifuge it for fusion reactor, or recycle it..

Indeed, they do look nice. But when you have over two hundred stacks of aluminium ingots, well, that is a lot of floors I'd need to make to use them. But I just can't see myself recycling them until I have a full barrel of titanium ingots (about a fourth of the way there, whoo!).

That's not a lot though, 200 stacks ingots only like 22 stacks of blocks I did use around 30 stack for the floor blocks and still have plenty, Maybe I should have changed the nearby mountain to aluminium mountain as well..

Do it, and then take a picture or ten!
