Well, I can't really figure out a base to make. I have a small home dug into a mountain and since it's FTB, I need lots of space. I live in the red rock mountains, and I don't feel like making 9x9s like Dire... and its not like I just started I have a redstone energy cell and lots of ores and stuff.

You know, just because you're playing "modded" Minecraft, you're not excluded from using vanilla designs. 9x9's are just protection & function so don't feel bad if you start or end up in one.

But we don't know you. We don't know what you want to build inside of your base. You can Google for Minecraft houses, bases, labs, factories, the whole deal. Then you can copy and idea, or use one as inspiration. Personally I look at buildings on Pinterest and used them as inspiration.

I like Red Rock too, that's why I used it in my latest build. http://forum.feed-the-beast.com/index.php?threads/24363/

That's all I can help you with. Don't be afraid to try something. Do that first before yielding the creative reigns to others.

Personally I've always liked bases meant to expand. Currently I'm working on a base in a forest where every room connects by hallway or tunnel to the next, and each room is themed after the mod it uses. I'm enjoying it, but my favorite remains the castle I once built which, in theme of medieval times, would have walls circumventing the main buildings, and have more outer walls added later as the base expanded to more structures.
In Red Mountains an entirely subterranean base could also work.

Figure out which materials you would like to have for your floor, walls, etc. Collect some and build your base in the sky, pretty much infinite space to expand without having to clear blocks out when you do.

My top houses that I use whenever I play

  1. Dirt home, mostly dug into the ground but the top is completely made of dirt I even built a dirt mosuq for my friend, then I took in down since he said it was offensive and didn't appreciate my help.
  2. spiral up to the top of a redwood, and build huge unsupported bridges, similar to c0reybee's FTB skyblock series.
  3. If MFR had poo bricks, I'd make a poo castle.

build semi circular domes up the side of the red mountain for a base like out of one of the old James Bond movies, levels connected with tunnels & enclosed stairs, just an idea :)
