Hiya everyone,

recently, I have started playing FTB again, following a long break after Mindcrack I'm now rolling with Unleashed. For some reason, I am starting to experience absurd FPS-lag, which occurs after the game has run for a bit (~15 minutes-ish?). Normally, the game runs at around 100-120 FPS, but now it drops well below 30 after a while.

Now, I did try to rule out some issues:
I thought that my 128px texturepack was too much to handle for my PC, but downgrading or turning it off has offered no relief.
I went ahead and allowed the launcher to grant my minecraft a whopping 5.5 GB of RAM, which it gladly seems to take according to the task manager, but it doesn't seem to help much.
Reducing the rendering-distance ingame seemed to work at first, but that went downhill fast, just like it normally did.

We are playing on a relatively untouched world on our server, with the lot of us only having the most basic of bases, no giant chunk-loaders, no overloading machines, nothing. I cannot tell why my minecraft just won't run as well as it used to anymore.

Some specs:

Intel Core [email protected] (8 cores)
8 GB RAM
GeForce GTX580

What I noticed is that the javaw.exe seems to demand tons and tons of RAM all of a sudden. Before, I was completely fine with the 3,0GB I allowed it to have via the launcher, now it spikes up to nearly 5 GB shortly after launching and continues to build up from there. Is this normal? Will I just have to get more RAM or is there an actual problem here?

I would recommend doing the steps here to ensure that your launcher is installed in the correct way.

If you are still having issues you can get help here on obtaining and posting a log.

Thanks. I did try to reinstall the entire thing before, but did not even think about the second directory in appdata/roaming. Reinstalled Java as well, just to be safe. Will test the performance later tonight.
