I am wondering if someone has found a way to automate mystcraft notebooks "cleanup"?
I'm playing with BoP and there are tons and tons of biomes and I'd like to have a clean biome notebook with no page duplicates in it.
I tried looking into openperipherals for opening the notebook but it can only opens objects that are put in the world and since there is no way to put a notebook down as a block I can't open it.

The best idea I've had so far is:
chest|turtle|chest
====|void chest|====

The turtle reads the page name info from the items in the chest compares them to a table containing all the previously read page names and either dump it in the other chest if it's a new page or in the void chest if it's a known page(and saving the table to file if it's a new one).

It's ok but not really pretty...
I'm wondering if someone has a better way?

Well that sounds fine. What about the desk writer. Can you "talk" with that? Maybe see what notebook there are there and see their content?

You can see the notebooks in there as well as the ink bottles/empty bottles and paper but no way to see what's inside the notebooks :(.

I havent been working on mystcraft with turtle becuase im focused on turtle for my bees. What I would do is this: drop the new page in a chest. It will be sucked by a turtle. The turtle looks in 3-4 chests with pages (i think there are about 240 pages so 2 diamond chest will do) and then the turtle can sent the page to 2 chests: have already or dont have. Then u can make a copy of that and put in the diamondchest?

Have you considered dumping the contents of the notebook into chests or AE or such? Why does it need to stay inside the notebook?

It's not automatic, but fairly simple. Set up a dedicated AE controller, drive and access terminal for your biome pages and put 3-4 storage cells (1k is enough) in the drive. You'll instantly see which pages have duplicates.
