Well here is one example
RE.png
The engine just sits there even after about a minute or so. And strangely enough I have a small setup with a redstone torch under an engine...... and the engine turned red...... but was never moving or producing power.[DOUBLEPOST=1356828534][/DOUBLEPOST]Here ya go now its Green as you can see and it has not moved at all

You have to connect it to something it can work with, like a wooden transport pipe.
The same goes for most engines that does not have an internal power storage to build up, they need to route the energy somewhere.

Ok for some reason I had not thought about that while testing that it needed something to connect to just to run. Maybe you can see what I am doing wrong here. The setup is two steam engines for active power during a big job I want now. And I wanted to connected a redstone for passive power just to keep the buffers full if I wanted to use the pulverizer for something small.

Redstone engines do not power machines anymore, only item/liquid extractions from wooden transport/waterproof pipes

DA FAQ!!!!! can they at least send power to energy storage or something? I totally wanted to make a massive redstone engine room :-(

No they don't power even wooden conductives any longer they are basically ONLY for wooden transport\waterproof pipes and pumps.

No, as i said, they can only be used for item/liquid extractions from wooden transport/waterproof pipes. The amount it got nerfed to is minuscule compared to some versions back. No more free power and also less lag, which it was known to cause in big arrays.

Ah my friend there is free power everywhere in the end scheme just need to know how to use the machines lol. This just means that I will have to be a Tad more creative in my design is all.

There's plenty of self-sustained, renewable power; you just won't get it from redstone engines.

There is a thread knocking about somewhere that explains how you can use autarchic gates and conductive pipes to simulate the old Redstone engine array for power generation.

Not in any version later than 1.4.2 I believe it was fixed in 1.4.5 or it may have been 1.4.6 either way it no longer works :)

Man that would for some fairly hardcore autocrafting lol. Kind of annoying atm I seem to not be able to get my restone engines working. Has anyone else had problems with this?
Solar Panels. I sent a fraction of my incoming materials to make them, every now and again, depending on luck, a new solar panel would be produced. Not a dedicated factory, but worked great.
A fraction of what each station produced was sent to storage for other uses (Insulated Copper Wire, Generators, Circuits, etc).
Best thing was working out the design.
