I was getting a bit sick of my light nexus not working at night, so I made an automator that switches the caps from diamond to moonstone at night, and back to diamond in the morning. Figured I should share the design if anyone wanted to do something similar, or had an idea to improve mine.

You could simplify this possibly, maybe have both pistons horizontal and just switching each time? This looks much better though.
I never new moon stone made the light nexus work in the the dark, thanks!

It still needs line of sight to the sky, so you can't set it up in a cave or something, but yeah it lets it run at night. The daylight sensor defines day slightly differently than the nexus, so there's a bit of delay between daytime and the pistons moving, but it's more essence overall.

As much as I love people working out designs to "automate" the nexus (big thumbs up!), it strikes me as odd that the simplest solution is just to build 2 nexuses next to each other, one for day, one for night. I believe both can be linked to the same devices at the same time.

True, but then, where's the fun?

To me, minecraft is about convoluted solutions to simple problems.

Why use the Autothing when we had Thaumic Tinkerer already? There is a device that can replace blocks if they are within range, and when I say replace, I mean you can have moonstone caps appear in place of the diamond caps without the diamond ones being broken. Then when day comes, it replaces them again with each other.

Blood Magic's Teleposer can do the same thing, and with a bit of work you could get qCraft's Quantum Computers to do the same thing.

Doesn't the Teleposer require it to be on top of the thing to switch? I guess I should check your guide and find out but still...

Below it, I believe. And sadly, I haven't gotten to the teleposer in the guide yet.
