Just a noobish question that I can't get to work.

I only want my engines to go on when the Redstone Energy cell is able to store energy inside.

Now I have an Autarchic Gate which is set to 'Can store Energy' -> Redstone Signal On.

I also have some red pipe wire connected over the pipes to my engines. But they don't seem to get a signal. So I thought I put a gate on top of my engines aswell. Which are set to 'Redstone signal on' -> Redstone signal ( No idea if this is correct though).

But that didn't work either. Then I found some Cobblestone Structure Pipe for the gates. But those won't connect to my engines nor my Energy Cell.

Any ideas are welcome :)!

Red pipe wire =/= redstone.

To interact with pipe signals, you need the upgraded gates (red = iron, red, green = gold, red, greed, blue, yellow = diamond).

So, you'll need 1 iron gate (doesn't need to be autarchic) on your cell, and 1 on each engine.

You don't send redstone signals over pipes, there is a seperate redpipe wire signal you need to use (requires atleast iron gates).

That's what I have "Red Pipe Wire". But I can't seem to get the signal across. And also I can't make the Cobble Structure pipes be attached to the Redstone Energy Cell.

Could you be a little bit more specific, mostly my first time using gates so I hardly understand what you mean with the pipe signals and upgraded gates.

Your basic premise was fine, but you need iron gates (If you look them up in NEI, I think they require an iron chipset [redstone+iron] and red pipe wire).

If you place one of these next to the cell, and set the conditional to "can store energy" and the action to "red pipe signal", then place a gate on the pipe next to the engine with "red pipe signal on" and "emit redstone signal", and ensure that there is red pipe wire between them, you'll be good.

With that setup, if you have any kind of drain on your cell your engines will run continuously. Take a look at this thread from a few days ago on this exact topic:

http://forum.feed-the-beast.com/threads/help-with-bc-gates.28858/

... yes, my objective was to try not to confuse him with logic gates at this stage. The fact of the matter is that, while it's very useful, the RE cell doesn't really *fit* in the MJ system (made many posts about this previously, I'll regurgitate it here if needs be), with the recent changes of machines drawing whenever they're connected, rather than whenever they're working, you'd need an RS-latch to flip the engines on when it gets below 1 level, and off when it gets above another.

The lazyman's solution that will really get the most out of your setup is more energy cells for a better buffer.

The slightly less lazyman's solution is to renewably produce more MJ than you will ever need, e.g. just one 36hp boiler feeding off MFR farms.
