Havent really needed to use the autocrafting table ... until now. With my Industrial Grinder in place, the tiny piles of dust are building up in my overflow chest. But I'm struggling to come up with an elegant solution for sorting and automating.

Cant find much online, so how is everyone else approaching it?

There's just gotta be a better way than surrounding a collection of chests with four autocrafting tables each ... I hope. :)

There really is no easier way, sadly, than making a bunch of autocrafting tables, one for each type of small pile of dust.

A really useful thing that could be added would be a Dust Collector, which would accept any and all small piles of dust and store them in an internal (inaccessible) buffer until it had enough to combine them together into a large pile. Having one of these in your sorting system would be a great way to deal with the small piles of dust.

Personally, I only have a few small piles of dust automated as the vast majority of my small dust piles are limited to only a handful of types. The rest I just manually craft whenever I pass my dust chest.

Good luck!

Look down at Jammyjezza's post, and be amazed!

there is an easier way: the packager from factorization. if you have a filter (or filters) hooked up to a tiny dusts chest to pull out 4 at a time in the packager, it will autocraft them all easily without the nee for lots of tables

That really is the only thing I can think to say. Thank you for telling me this, as that is EXACTLY what I wanted! Now, time to go redesign my system.

Packager does work, but IMO, the electric crafting table works better.

With a packager, you need a chest and router or filter or similar prior to the packager that collects the dusts and sends them in exactly in groups of four. The electric crafting table will hold up to 9 different items on its own and whenever it builds a 3x3 or 2x2 crafting output will then send that out.

The downside of course is the electric crafting table requires EU and is generally slower.

The packager is a great block (thanks again) and the dropchest-filter-relay packager-autarchic is a lot neater than the mess I started with ...

but as I'm handling the output from my new GT Industrial Grinder, perhaps a electric crafting table also makes sense. The EU is there - and always wanted to experiment with Translocaters. Now that's something I'd really appreciate a steer towards a good tutorial.

I use two sorting machines for my packaging "plant". First sorting machine will just put whatever can be packaged, in whatever quantity. So I have 7 tiny redstone dust, and 3 gold nuggets, but my sorting machine has 1 tiny redstone dust and 1 gold nugget. This goes into a chest, attached to another sorting machine. This other sorting machine has 4 tiny piles of redstone dust and 9 gold nuggets. From there, it'll pull in the exact quantity (important) to the packager, so I'll only need one packager for about 40 items that I want "blockified/blockificated/de-tinydustified/de-nuggetified/scrapboxinized/brickinated".
Yeah, it's expensive, but it takes up about 4 blocks, so it's very compact.

Oh wow, this will make my metal bee product processing plant a lot more compact. Should be easy to switch to this from my current system too. :D

The only problem with the packager with a filter accepting 4 at a time is its limited to nine items so I would rather use a transposer set to pulse 4 times with some rp and bc logic so that it can accept many items though I wouldn't know how to figure out when it had 4 of one item

Did you see my post? Use sorting machines.

Worked well for me. A nice and tidy 2x3x2

Now, my sorting system routes tiny piles to the purple ender chest, where a sorting machine tries to pulls correct-sized piles into the packager (buffered by a router)

An autarchic gate (behind the packager) pulls the crafted output into the primary drop chest below, so the dusts can be sorted and distributed for further processing by furnace/blast furnace/electrolyzer/centrifuge etc.

Nice to finally have my Industrial Grinder automated and integrated ... Thanks for all your help guys!

Electric Crafting table set to dust mode.

If you have any problems with the dusts in the output slot, click the button above the mode select button and make sure it only shows the lightning bolt (not the two little squares)

You didnt say what pack your on OP, if xyCraft the fabricators work well, if AE then use it to autocraft dusts as there produced & dumped into the system.

Damn I just noticed the..sheez.

The electric crafting table was already mentioned as solution. Also, you resurrected a dead thread.

For those without RP2 (using Unleashed Pack), can anyone provide me with the type of filter to use? Provide a picture of their set-up?
